Walter Gassmann is a professor in the Division of Plant Sciences at the University of Missouri and currently also serves as the Interim Director of the Christopher S. Bond Life Sciences Center. His research focuses on the innate immune system of plants, in particular how activation and suppression of the immune system are regulated for optimal plant growth. Current interests include the regulation of immune protein complexes by post-translational protein modifications and of transcriptional networks. He is an elected fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
