The Data Science group at the Danforth Center uses and develops computational approaches that leverage large datasets to address biological problems. A major focus of our research utilizes natural variation, combined with high-throughput genotyping and phenotyping, to identify the genetic basis of traits in potential biofuel crop systems such as sorghum and camelina. The Data Science group is part of the core development team of PlantCV, a software package of image and data analysis tools for high-throughput plant phenotyping. The goal of the PlantCV project is to develop a set of modular, reusable, and repurposable tools for plant image analysis that are open-source and community-developed.
