Ashiq Masood is a Medical Oncologist at the Saint Luke’s Cancer Institute/ University of Missouri Kansas City. He specializes in Gastrointestinal cancers. Dr. Masood completed his Internal Medicine Residency in Wayne State University/ Detroit Medical Center. He trained as a clinical fellow in Medical oncology and Hematology in the University of Maryland School of Medicine. During his fellowship, he served as a post- doctoral fellow in Scott Devine’s lab at the Institute for Genomic Sciences, University of Maryland. He was involved in a research project in Devine’s lab, which led to the discovery that transposons (jumping genes) can initiate colorectal cancer. He is trained in cancer bioinformatics and computational biology. He was previously an Assistant Professor of Medicine, Division of Oncology at the Washington University School of Medicine before being recruited at the Saint Luke’s cancer institute. His other interests are clinical trials, and biomarker discovery employing next generation sequencing platforms.
