Our current and growing research interests cover three major areas: 1.To apply Translational Bioinformatics to leverage big data in omics and electronic medical records to make new biological discoveries and gain new unifying global biological insights, which may lead to the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic targets for human diseases. 2. To investigate Nicotinamide Phosphoribosyltransferase (NAMPT, also called pre-B-cell colony enhancing factor or visfatin) in the human physiology and pathology such as role of NAMPT in acute respiratory distress syndrome, arthritis, cancer, drug induced liver toxicity. 3. To dissect underlying molecular mechanism of some single nucleotide polymorphisms implicated in the pathogenesis of diarrhea using CRISPR-Cas tool, cell and mouse models.
