Dr. Allsworth’s research examines how social constructs, like race, violence, and poverty, alter women’s healthcare utilization and reproductive outcomes. Her current research interests include: health disparities in obstetric and gynecologic outcomes; the use of social media for delivery of weight gain interventions among disadvantaged reproductive-aged women at risk for obesity; and the identification of modifiable predictors of disparities in reproductive health care use and outcomes using electronic health record data. Dr. Allsworth’s research and teaching focus on the integration of best practices of observational epidemiology and the latest approaches to causal inference in the analysis of “big data” including, administrative and electronic health record data.
