Jannette Berkley-Patton, Ph.D., is the Director of the UMKC Community Health Research Group. Her expertise as principal investigator of National Institute of Health-funded studies is in using community-engaged approaches to develop and test HIV, STD, and diabetes/heart disease prevention, screening, linkage to care interventions in African American churches. Within these studies, she uses qualitative and quantitative methods to examine church systems for delivery of multilevel intervention strategies in faith-based settings. Her research also engages faith, community, and health agency partners in intervention delivery and evaluation. She is particularly interested in how best to build and disseminate large-scale, sustainable interventions to address health disparities and have a greater public health impact on outcomes of importance to underserved populations.
